i've started making mini props outta cardboard, poster paint and sharpie markers.
I've sucessfully made a half Hollow mask for Ichigo from Bleach.

--- a good trick for painting cardboard: paint the side thats on the inside, and dont use cardboard thats been exposed to food...makes it soft and smelly.

lol groooss. I also found something out about painting masks [my paint was on top of carboard and ductape], it can and will wear off on your face. After I took off my Reverse Bear Trap, I had a green nose XD

im having a bit of a choice with the weapons for a cosplay i wanna do.
the character has ...an "arsenal" of various weapons, but even if i use real metal...that would be alot of weight to add on.
should i go empty, use cardboard or metal?

--- its gonna be an assassin's creed costume, so I dont quite no how heavy the robe is yet.

By metal, do you mean steel? Because A2F does not allow live steel weapons..

Your best bet is to go with cardboard. It'll add to your costume, and I've seen amazing weapons made out of cardboard.
Have you thought about PVC pipe? You can also do wonders with that, my keyblade was made using PVC and wood..

I hope this helps at least a little ^^

yes, even though it breaks my heart...I know we can't have live steel because of the safety issues.
I'll look into the PVC though. Wood might be a good option, because it would have about the same weight right?
My worries with cardboard is that it might crumple...

any good suppliers of PVC?
(it would be just a couple throwing knives and maybe a short knife. -- non metal of course. )

Yeah I understand where you're coming from on cardboard. :/ Unfortunately, it's one of the most unreliable materials out there, but the easiest to get to.

PVC and Wood are both pretty amazing, but if you're making smaller weapons wood is probably your best bet, as it weighs less, is easier to work with, and can be bought at any home improvement store out there.

I wish you luck ^^

I know this is super old, but I may have an answer to your scythe thingy problem: insulation. Pink polyurethane insulation foam to be exact. Dust Bunny from cosplay.com did an amazing job on her Talim props. The construction can apply to your scythe. Here's the tutorial:http://ildustbunnyil.livejournal.com/1541.html [will add to list].
